Douglas Turner passed away in 1991 at the age of 43. The cause of death was a heart attack (MI). He was married and had two children. He worked for many years for a bus company in Westchester. We will miss him.
I'm surprised and saddened to know of Doug's passing. I remember him driving our school bus from Roosevelt, giving the aged driver a break for awhile. As it chugged up Palmer Road, both were happy doing what they were doing - driving for Doug, relaxing for owner/operator.
Doug also accompanied me for a test drive of a used car at Smith-Cairns in Bronxville, My Dad was trying desperately to buy a mid-sized American car for my first car, something I really didn't want (first car was an Austin-Healey Sprite). Doug and I both drove a Chevelle convertible with way too much power for neophyte drivers. I told him I'd never buy this car, whereupon he asked if he could buy it. He eventually did... :)
